Call for Submission: HKU Entrepreneurship Engine Fund is currently selecting projects to recommend for the 2025 National Disruptive Technology Innovation Competition
The competition upholds the principle of innovation regardless of background, and heroes regardless of origin. It aims to widely select and accelerate the development of disruptive technologies that reshape the competitive landscape, seizing the initiative in innovation and development. As an important channel for discovering key projects in disruptive technology innovation, the competition aims to recommend and seek support from national key projects in disruptive technology innovation, local key projects in disruptive technology innovation, and local funds for disruptive technology innovation investment. Several award-winning projects from the 2024 competition have successfully obtained support from national or local key projects in disruptive technology innovation!

Projects recommended by the Entrepreneurship Engine Fund (EEF) at the University of Hong Kong will have direct entry to the “Domain Competition.
· Deadline for submissions is March 20, 2025.
· Languages: Chinese and Putonghua
· Requirements for participating projects:
“Disruptive technology” refers to strategic technologies that “change the rules of the game.” It should meet the following basic requirements:
1. Strong Application Scenario: The application scenario should be a forward-looking scenario in foundational or strategic industries in the economic and social sectors, with the main technological functions providing critical support or directional leadership to the scenario technology system.
2. Rigid Demand: The intended service needs should have significant current or potential scale, and existing technologies cannot adequately meet certain important requirements for the current or future development of the scenario or are fundamentally lacking, indicating significant demand pain points
3. Deep Route: It belongs to a theoretical breakthrough in important cutting-edge technologies or deeply cross-cutting new technologies. The potential for solving demand pain points is significantly better than existing technologies or dismantling their core advantages, with a high threshold for anti-disruption.
4. Independent Property Rights: It should have independent intellectual property rights, strong exclusivity, wide and comprehensive protection, the possibility of seizing the initiative, and maintaining a leading competitive advantage for a long period.
· Key themes for the 2025 competition: Integrated circuits and micro-nano systems, artificial intelligence and information systems, scientific instruments and new experimental systems, life health, energy resources and environment, advanced manufacturing and transportation systems, etc.
· Registration: Submit the application materials by March 20 to victoria.tian@hku.hk. Projects that pass the review will receive the competition registration link and EEF recommendation code by March 26.

· 提交截止日期：2025年3月20日。
· 大赛语言：中文及普通话
· 参赛项目要求：
“颠覆性技术是“改变游戏规则”的战略技术，应满足以下基本要求：
1. 场景强：应用场景为经济社会中基础性、战略性产业或有潜力成为基础性、战略性产业的前瞻性场景，主要技术功能对场景技术体系具有关键支撑或方向引领作用。
2. 需求刚：拟服务的需求具有较大现实或潜在规模，且已有技术不能很好满足场景当前或未来发展的某些重要要求或基本处于空白，即存在重要需求痛点。
3. 路线深：属于理论突破的重要前沿技术或深度交叉新技术，解决需求痛点潜力显著优于已有技术或瓦解其核心优势潜力巨大，并具有极高的反颠覆门槛。
4. 产权独：具有自主知识产权，且独占性强，得到广泛而充分保护，具有抢占先机并在较长时期内保持领先性竞争优势的可能。
· 2025年大赛重点领域包括：集成电路与微纳系统、人工智能与信息系统、科学仪器与新型实验系统、生命健康、能源资源与环境、先进制造与运载系统等。
· 报名方式： 请于3月20日之前将参赛材料提交至victoria.tian@hku.hk。通过审核的项目将在3月26日之前收到比赛注册链接和EEF推荐码。
