Origin of HKU iDendron

With the generous support of the Azalea (1972) Endowment Fund and other strategic partners, HKU iDendron was established in 2017 to foster the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, incubate early-stage start-ups, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and engage the community in supporting human endeavours and societal development.

“Dendron” means tree in Latin, and iDendron symbolises the “tree of innovations,” reflecting the vision of HKU’s entrepreneurship community hub to nurture entrepreneurial seeds and cultivate a thriving ecosystem.

HKU iDendron is expanding to multiple locations to support HKU entrepreneurs and ventures wherever they are.

Eligibility

• Principal Applicant must be an HKU member (student, staff, or alumnus of HKU or its affiliated institutions) with at least 20% ownership in the applying or to-be-established company
• Have an innovative project from any discipline.
• For Individual and Team applicants: Must be aged 18 or above and with valid work permits for relevant locations, OR
• For Company applicants: Have a limited company incorporated in relevant locations with a clean record.
