The Entrepreneurial Internship Programme (EIP) offers students a unique opportunity to gain practical working experience in innovation and entrepreneurship through an internship with HKU I&E Units as well as HKU-Supported Startups.
As EIP interns, students have the opportunity to contribute to the University’s innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives while working closely with startup founders and entrepreneurial teams. Through these practical experiences, participants can develop an entrepreneurial mindset, strengthen their innovation capabilities, and acquire valuable workplace skills in a dynamic startup environment.
Acquire direct, practical experience in research commercialisation and develop a deeper understanding of HKU’s vibrant I&E ecosystem;
Bridge the gap between theory and practice by applying your academic knowledge to actual entrepreneurial and innovation scenarios, significantly boosting your practical skills; and
Sharpen your problem-solving, teamwork, and professional capabilities through active participation in startup initiatives both within the university and the wider startup environment.
Current HKU students in their second year of undergraduate studies or above (in 2026/27), or postgraduates from all disciplines;
Strong interest in tech innovations, start-up operational models, venture capital, or the commercialisation of intellectual property (IP);
All majors are welcome (foundational knowledge in data analysis, digital marketing, engineering, biotechnology, or business administration is preferred for specific technical startup roles); and
Non-local students: Eligible to apply provided they hold a valid No-Objection Letter (NOL) issued by the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
