Entrepreneurial Internship Programme 2023-2024

Entrepreneurial Internship Programme (EIP) is a new initiative that provides students with a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Entrepreneurial Internship Programme is now accepting applications for the 2024/25 school year. It offers selected students the opportunity to gain practical experience that drives impact by working for the Techno-Entrepreneurship Core(TEC) and/or Technology Transfer Office (TTO)
at HKU. As an intern, you will have the chance to support innovation and entrepreneurship-related initiatives of the University. This includes working on commercialization processes from the top-notch research projects, allowing you to gain hands-on experience within Innovation & Entrepreneurship ecosystem of HKU.

  • Gain hands-on experience from Innovation & Entrepreneurship ecosystem by working on commercialization processes from the top-notch research projects of HKU;

  • Integrate and apply knowledge gained in coursework in a real-life setting;

  • Improve problem-solving and collaborative skills in a working environment;

  • Selected student(s) may opt for enrollment of the IIMT2628 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Internship , credit-bearing undergraduate course of HKU Business School (subject to the approval of faculty and course instructor);

  • An honorarium will be provided upon successful completion of programme with satisfactory performance.

WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO APPLY NOW IF YOU ARE:

  • Current HKU students in undergraduates year two or above (in 2024/25), or postgraduates from all disciplines;

  • Strong interest and relevant knowledge in innovations, entrepreneurship, start-ups, and venture capital are preferred;

  • Sound knowledge in engineering, science, biotechnology or business administration are preferred.

Internship Period (80-160 hours in total)

  • 2 months’ probation (Sep to Nov)

  • Overseas study tour (optional)

  • Theme based training sessions

  • Working with assigned mentor on different projects throughout the period

Notes:

  1. Theme-based training sessions will be conducted 3-4 times during the internship period on topics including IP management, business modelling, entrepreneurship, and more.

  2. The overseas study tour in October is optional.

  3. Students will have the opportunity to contribute to various incubation program, assist in the organization of annual I&E programs, such as Start-up Demo Day and Impact Day, as well as conducting IP analysis, managing start-up database, and other related tasks.

  4. The enrolment to credit bearing course IIMT2628 will be provided in Sem 2 only and subject to the approval of faculty and course instructor
