DeepTech100+
HKU DeepTech100+ is a one year co-joint incubation programme with HKU TEC and HKSTP.
DeepTech100+ is a deep-tech venture incubation programme designed for researchers and innovation teams seeking to translate breakthrough research and advanced technologies into commercial opportunities. As a joint initiative between HKU and HKSTP, the programme provides access to research and development resources, business mentorship, industry connections, and startup support to accelerate the journey from laboratory research to market impact.
Awardees may receive up to HK$1.39 million in funding support, together with market validation training, expert mentorship, and business development support to accelerate the commercialization of deep-tech innovations.
This Programme runs twice a year with cut-off dates on the last Sunday of May and November.

Eligibility
Applications must be submitted by a Person-in-Charge (PIC) and meet the following requirements:
Person-in-Charge (PIC)
- HKU member (student, staff, alumnus, or HKU-affiliated institution member) aged 18+ with a valid Hong Kong Identity Card;
- OR
- Company Director of an existing or prospective HKU IP licensee (with an IP licensing agreement either already signed or currently under negotiation.)
Company Entity
- Company incorporation is not required at the time of application. If approved, applicants must incorporate a Hong Kong limited company.
- If already incorporated, the company must be a Hong Kong-incorporated limited company less than 24 months old at the programme start date.
- HKU member(s) must hold at least 20% equity in the applicant company (or company to be established).
- Project Proposal
- A deep-tech venture supported by R&D and a clear commercialisation/business plan.

Notes: HKU Staff shall observe and adhere to all relevant policies and regulations related to knowledge transfer and external activities. Prior approval must be obtained from the university management before engaging in any startup and outside activities, including consultancy work. For detailed information, please refer to the HKU Staff Handbook regarding Regulations Governing External Activities.
Professoriate, academic-related, and research staff who engage in startup activities are required to complete the Online Form of Declaration of Interest (Startup Activities) via the designated HKU online system.

Application & Assessment Process for Cohort 8
- Read the Guidelines before submitting any application
- PIC submits the online application form along with the following supporting documents on or before the application deadline

- Pitch Deck (max. 15 slides, English or Chinese)
- Proof of HKU affiliation of the PIC (e.g. student ID, graduation certificate, or staff card)
- HKU IP License Agreement or completed Declaration Form (if applicable)
- Company registration documents (Business Registration Certificate , Certificate of Incorporation, NNC1/NAR1)
- CVs of the PIC and all team members (using the provided template)
Applicants must submit the Pitch Deck and proof of PIC association with HKU by providing a valid, accessible, and downloadable link to the files when submitting the application. These files should be uploaded to a file-sharing platform (e.g., Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.)

HKSTP Ideation Programme Structure

Lean Launcher Training for Market Validation
The Lean Launcher Programme will support awarded teams in transforming their ideas into market-ready ventures. The programme begins with a one-day bootcamp and is followed by five evening report-back sessions, providing a structured framework for learning and execution.
Guided by experienced industry mentors, participants will undertake customer discovery and market validation activities, testing key assumptions and gathering real-world feedback. Through hands-on training and expert coaching, teams will develop a deeper understanding of their target markets, refine their business models, and build a stronger foundation for future growth and investment readiness.
