SEED

SEED is a joint co-ideation programme in partnership with HKSTP for students and graduates.
SEED is an early-stage startup support programme designed specifically for innovative or startup projects in any discipline or industrial sector. Awardees will be provided with training and coaching opportunities, as well as be supported for participating in various startup competitions.

The 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
The 11th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition:
One of the well-known competitions in Hong Kong, the total cash prize value is over HKD$500,000.
The winning entrepreneurship projects will form a Hong Kong representative team to participate in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition and/or the “Challenge Cup” China College Students Entrepreneurship Competition.
Furthermore, the winning projects will also have the opportunity to represent Hong Kong at three international competitions and exhibitions: World Invent Singapore (WoSG), the Indonesia Inventors’ Day (IID), and the Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF).
HKU teams that win the Grand Prize or First Prize will fast-track into the Seed Programme’s second stage, which includes workshops and opportunities to pitch for the HKSTP Ideation Programme*.

The 9th InnoX Entrepreneurship Camp (Summer Cohort)
The 9th InnoX Entrepreneurship Camp 2025 is a rigorous, project-based entrepreneurship boot camp focusing on hard technology. This program, hosted by the InnoX Academy, is the brainchild of Mr. Neil Shen, founding partner of HongShan China, and Professor Zexiang Li, former chairman of DJI.
Established in cooperation with HKSTP and various Hong Kong universities, the InnoX Academy aims to nurture the next generation of tech entrepreneurs. The InnoX Entrepreneurship Camp is an evolution of the successful X-Plan project, which, over 8 years, has supported more than 240 early-stage tech projects, with many receiving substantial investment.
HKU teams that participated in the program and are nominated by the InnoX will fast-track into the Seed Programme’s second stage, which includes workshops and opportunities to pitch for the HKSTP Ideation Programme.

Eligibility
- Principal Applicant must be an HKU member (student, staff, or alumnus of HKU or its affiliated institutions) with at least 20% ownership in the applying or to-be-established company AND
- Have an innovative idea from any discipline, including class work, final year projects, research initiatives, or self-initiated projects AND
- For Individual applicants: Are an HKID holder aged 18 or above, OR
- For Company applicants: Have a limited company incorporated in Hong Kong for less than 2 years by the application start date, OR
- For Team applicants: Have a team (must incorporate a limited company in Hong Kong within 2 weeks once approved by the HKSTP IDEATION admission panel).

The selection is based on paper-based assessment; for those that are interested in HKSTPIdeation Programme, there will be an additional interview or pitch recording evaluation by a vetting committee.
