Announcement of Finalists Advancing to the Grand Finale of the 2026 HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge
We are delighted to announce the outstanding teams that have advanced to the Grand Finale of the 2026 HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge.
These finalists were selected following a successful Closed-Door Hong Kong Semi-Finals Pitching event held on 8 August 2026. From a highly competitive field of talented startups, four teams from the Growth Division and five teams from the Start-up Division have earned their place in the Grand Finale.
About the Challenge

The 2026 HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge is jointly organised by the HKU Institute for China Business (ICB) and the HKU Techno-Entrepreneurship Core (TEC).
The Challenge aims to promote technological innovation and industrial development, while strengthening global scientific and technological exchanges and collaboration. Going beyond the display and exchange of innovative technologies, it places strong emphasis on accelerating the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into impactful real-world solutions.
A distinguished panel comprising leading technology experts, renowned investors, prominent investment institutions, and industry leaders from around the world will serve as judges. They will conduct rigorous evaluations, offer valuable mentorship and strategic guidance to participating teams, and provide outstanding projects with extensive resources, networks, and support.
Highlights
Hong Kong and Overseas Semi-Finals
This year’s Challenge has attracted remarkable global interest. Across all regions, 241 applications were received, with strong representation from AI, healthcare, biotechnology, sustainability, and other frontier technology sectors. The Hong Kong and Overseas region alone accounted for 135 applications, underscoring the vibrant entrepreneurial activity within the HKU community and beyond.

The HKU International Techno-Entrepreneurship Challenge draws participants from the Greater Bay Area, Chengdu, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and overseas markets. Today’s regional event forms part of a broader series of semi-finals that will culminate in the Grand Finale on 16 January 2027, where the strongest teams from each region will compete on a global stage.
The competition journey encompasses applications, coaching, semi-finals, industry forums, and the final showcase — providing innovators with a comprehensive pathway to scale their ventures.
