Hu Mengkang is from Shandong Province. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Harbin Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Hong Kong, focusing on Embodied AI and LLM-based Agents. He is now working on startups in the field of LLM-based Agents and is the founder of Evolvent AI (evolvent.co).

During his doctoral studies, he has produced over 40 papers, including more than 10 first-author or corresponding-author AI papers published at venues such as ICLR, KDD, and NeurIPS. His Google Scholar citations exceed 2,400. He has been selected for programs including Tencent’s Qingyun Plan, Xiaohongshu’s Top Talent Plan, Microsoft Research Asia’s Rising Star, and Sequoia China’s AI25. He led the team that developed the open-source project OWL, which has accumulated over 20,000 GitHub stars, making it one of the fastest-growing starred projects in the Agent domain. In total, his personal projects have garnered over 30,000 stars.

Evolvent AI was founded by several PhD holders born after 2000 from prestigious universities and has secured millions of dollars in investment from top-tier Chinese funds. Core team members graduated from institutions such as HKU and NUS, each having academic work with over 100 citations during their studies. Several members previously worked at leading research institutions including Microsoft Research Asia, Hunyuan, Seed, and Moonshot, contributing to the release of core models such as Seed 2.0, Kimi 2.5, Kimi Linear, and Hunyuan-Turbo-S. Evolvent AI focuses on building Self-Evolving Agent Infrastructure, with the core vision of creating an AI Scientist system capable of continuous learning and self-evolution. Current areas of focus include: 1. LLM/Agent/multimodal data & environments; 2. Practical applications of self-evolving agents in AI4Science and AI4AI directions.
